Nikki Heidepriem has over 25 years of experience in electoral politics, government, law, and public policy. She co-founded the predecessor firm to Heidepriem & Mager in 1984. In 2003, Heidepriem managed the Washington operations for Howard Dean’s presidential campaign, a role she played in 1998 for Bill Bradley. In 1992, she served as a consultant to the Clinton for President campaign. Heidepriem was Director of Communications for Barbara Mikulski's successful bid for the U.S. Senate in 1986, and crafted the political message for the successful effort to defeat the nomination of Judge Robert Bork to the Supreme Court.

In 1980, Heidepriem joined the Washington, DC, law firm of Verner Liipfert Bernhard & McPherson where she practiced commercial litigation and public policy representation. Prior to that, she was Special Assistant to Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare, Joseph Califano, Jr.

Heidepriem chairs the Boards of Directors of the Jacobs Institute of Women's Health and the Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law. She is a director of the National Partnership for Women & Families, EMILY's List, the Center for Voting Rights and Protections, the Edmund Burke School, and Women's Policy, Inc. Heidepriem is a graduate of Macalester College and New York University Law School, where she was a Root-Tilden Scholar.
